As part of the REAL Alternatives 4 LIFE project, the first two train-the-trainers events took place in the past couple of weeks.

The first Train-the-trainers event was held in Istanbul on 12-14 March at the Friterm Akademi (picture left) in cooperation with the Turkish Association SOSIAD, with the kind participation of the British IOR and under the supervision of the Italian ATF. A great engagement and interest have characterised the theoretical and practical course, notably involving a considerable number of women. The theory covered all relevant topics included in the blended learning Real Alternatives' programme, featuring 9 modules translated in Turkish by SOSIAD and elaborated jointly by the 6 project partners. For more information, see the dedicated article.

The second Train-the-Trainers event was held in Croatia on 28-31 March at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Zagreb. The event was held in cooperation with the Hrvarski Association - HURKT and under the supervision of the Italian Associazione dei Tecnici del Freddo - ATF. The four-day course focused on the safe and efficient handling of refrigeration equipment working with CO2 (in particular a subcritical system) and flammable refrigerants. For more information, see the dedicated article.

A total of 6 train-the-trainers events will be held throughout Europe in the course of 2019.

REAL Alternatives 4 LIFE, the second phase of the project built on the successful REAL Skills Europe & REAL Zero containment approaches, is a free blended learning programme for alternative refrigerants. It was prepared by a consortium of Partners from across Europe, co-funded by the EU, included training and professional institutes as well as employer representative bodies.
