Chillventa Exhibition Seminar talks
REAL Alternatives 4 LIFE representatives Karsten Beermann and Marco Buoni attended the leading refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation and heat pump exhibition Chillventa in October to spread the word about the project. With the current interest in flammable refrigerants and concerns about safety, the project's stand attracted a high level of visitors. The seminar talks given about the programme were particularly popular.

REAL Alternatives 4 LIFE certificates presented at Birmingham workshop
At the first IIR International conference on the application of HFO refrigerants this September a training workshop was organised led by representatives of the project. They took this unique opportunity to provide delegates with theoretical training on various topics including maintenance, safety, retrofit and legal obligations for low flammable refrigerants. Participants took an assessment and were issued with a certificate showing that they've attended the workshop and completed the training.

Stakeholder study days now fully booked
Our programme of Study Days taking place from 7 November to 19 December 2018 are designed to reinforce the practical training associated with the use of low GWP alternative refrigerants. Four study day events will be hosted by leading alternative refrigerant training centres in Germany (IKKE), Italy (ATF), Poland (Prozon) and Belgium (UCLL). The training focuses on flammables and carbon dioxide, with the number of participants varying from 8-12 per event. These events, which have been organised exclusively for the participants in this project will include training providers from Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Spain, Turkey and Portugal. At the Study Days, knowledge and expertise will be shared on how low GWP alternative refrigerants training courses are carried out in order to prepare the trainers to offer their own new training courses locally based on the REAL Alternatives materials.
Next year the project will be holding Train the Trainer events, again for the existing project stakeholders, during February to June in Turkey, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Croatia, Spain and Portugal.

Industry groups are joining together to help provide information on the safe use of alternatives such as ammonia, hydrocarbon, carbon dioxide and low flammables though the REAL Alternatives learning programme. Resources developed as part of the project offer innovative blended learning - a mix of e-learning, face-to-face training materials, practical exercises, assessments and an e-library of learning resources.
The free multi-lingual learning materials are available for individual development or use as classroom training materials. They include e-learning content, electronic tools, a comprehensive library gathered from existing resources. The e-library contains over 100 useful industry resources.
The project is co-funded by the EU LIFE Programme for environmental initiatives. www.realalternatives.eu
