REAL Alternatives 4 LIFE at the UNEP OzonAction Workshop on Refrigeration Servicing

REAL Alternatives 4 LIFE was represented at the 2nd International Stakeholders Workshop on the Refrigeration Servicing Sector organised by UN Environment 's OzonAction last month. The workshop included international refrigeration and air conditioning associations, experts and delegates from the multilateral fund, bilateral and implementing agencies.

With the Kigali agreement soon to come into force the workshop was organised to help Article 5 countries address options towards streamlining support and services to the refrigeration servicing sector. REAL Alternatives 4 LIFE Project Manager Raluca Sisiu introduced the multilingual training programme and resources which provide a consistent training approach to the use of low GWP alternative refrigerants. Also present at the Workshop were representatives of the International Institute of Refrigeration and Associazione Tecnici del Freddo, who are partners in the programme.

There was a great deal of interest in the Real Alternatives 4 LIFE training programme which is co-funded by the EU LIFE mechanism and several additional countries have now expressed an interest in extending the programme with more language translations, e.g. Russian.

About the project...

Industry groups are joining together to help provide information on the safe use of alternatives such as ammonia, hydrocarbon, carbon dioxide and low flammables though the REAL Alternatives learning programme.    Resources developed as part of the project offer innovative blended learning - a mix of e-learning, face-to-face training materials, practical exercises, assessments and an e-library of learning resources.

The free multi-lingual learning materials are available for individual development or use as classroom training materials. They include e-learning content, electronic tools, a comprehensive library gathered from existing resources.  The e-library contains over 100 useful industry resources.

The project is co-funded by the EU LIFE Programme for environmental initiatives.
