New Qualification Programme for Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Technicians: Refrigerant Driving License available for use by National Ozone Units.
To help governments ensure that refrigeration and air-conditioning technicians are confirmed to have the necessary skills and knowledge to safely handle the latest alternative refrigerants, UNEP OzonAction and the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) have launched the Refrigerant Driving License (RDL) in cooperation with AREA and other partner organisations.
The RDL is meant to complement, and not replace, existing national technician qualification schemes. It also offers a ready-made and structured framework for countries that currently do not yet have a national technician certification programme, but wish to start assessing the skill levels of their RAC workforce.
