AREA has further expanded its membership with two new members (AEFYT from Spain and TRA from Thailand) joining AREA on the occasion of the spring 2017 General Assembly meeting that took place on 2-3 June in Amsterdam. AREA now counts 25 national member associations representing 21 countries from Europe and beyond.

AEFYT is the Spanish association representing companies in the cooling and refrigeration industry, including contractors. After an introductory meeting at the end of 2016, they had been granted temporary membership by the Board from 1st January 2017 onwards.

Explaining why membership of AREA was valuable, AEFYT President Roberto Solsona Caballer said: “AREA and AEFYT share common interests and objectives such as cohesion, collaboration, distribution of information and contact between national and international associations to achieve the development of refrigeration techniques and professional certifications”.

The Thailand Refrigeration Association (TRA) met with AREA delegates at the last Chillventa exhibition in October 2016. TRA becomes the first AREA International Observer – a new membership category created a year ago to enable non-European refrigeration and air conditioning engineers associations to join AREA and enjoy membership benefits at a low contribution.

AREA President said: “I am very proud to see AREA continuing to grow, as it certainly shows the value of our organisation. AEFYT is a strong association that, together with CNI, will reinforce our representativeness in Spain. TRA is our first International Observer and we hope others will follow soon.”
