Organised by AREA at Chillventa, this event will address crucial topics surrounding the certification and training required for alternative refrigerants, in light of the new F-Gas 3.0 Regulation (EU) No 573/2024.
The AREA Forum 2024 is set to be a pivotal event, shedding light on the pressing need for enhanced training and certification in the RACHP sector to meet the ambitious goals of the new F-Gas Regulation. By fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration, AREA aims to equip the industry with the tools and expertise necessary for a sustainable future.
The forum aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the evolving landscape of RAC training and certification, particularly emphasising the importance of integrating alternative refrigerants into the current schemes. With the new F-Gas Regulation setting higher standards for the competence required to handle emerging technologies, the event will explore how to meet these demands effectively.
Topics to be covered include:
- Building Capacity for Alternative Refrigerants: The need for focused training on flammable refrigerants and the critical role of certification in ensuring safety.
- Supporting EU Goals: Ensuring the F-Gas Regulation aligns with the availability of equipment, low-GWP refrigerant alternatives, and adequately trained personnel.
- Challenges of Alternative Refrigerants: Addressing issues related to the flammability, toxicity, high pressures, and energy efficiency of new refrigerants.
Speakers and Presentations:
Moderated by our former President with a special mandate “International Affairs” Marco Buoni, the seminar will feature six high-level speakers, including members from both AREA and the pan-African sister association, U-3ARC. Each speaker will deliver an 8-minute presentation, followed by a Q&A session to facilitate an interactive and engaging discussion.
- Coen van de Sande (AREA President): AREA position on the certification of personnel in the context of the F-Gas 3.0
- Representative from the European Commission (tbc) or AREA Member: Implementing Act on Training and Certification in light of F-Gas 3.0
- Marco Buoni (AREA Board): Training and certification 4 Alt Refs: available and working schemes in Europe
- Thanos Biris (AREA Board): The importance of training and certification on alternative refrigerants for the success of the F-Gas regulation
- Deniss Lukashuks (CEO & founder at HMS-EC): Natural, flammable refrigerants in education: future-proof, environmentally friendly and safe to use
- Said El Arch (U-3ARC Secretary General): Presenting the collaborative efforts between Europe and Africa for sustainable and safe refrigeration.
Coen Van de Sande, AREA President and NVKL Director, will be one of the keynote speaker of the conference.
Event Format
The seminar will begin at 2 pm and conclude at 3 pm in Hall 8 / 8-516 of the Chillventa Forum. Each presentation will be delivered in English, ensuring accessibility to a broad audience. The event will culminate in a final debate, allowing for an in-depth discussion and audience engagement.
