AREA has taken a position on the Clean Energy Package, which aims at keeping the European Union competitive as the clean energy transition is changing global energy markets. AREA position more specifically targets the 3 proposals that are relevant to the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump contracting sector.

As regards the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, AREA mostly addresses periodic inspections with the aim of keeping the current thresholds whilst including ventilation and air quality checks to reflect the level of integration of systems.

On the Renewable Energy Sources Directive, AREA notably pleads in favour of more freedom for Member States to adopt the measures that are most adapted to reach their non-binding targets.

Finally, on the Energy Efficiency Directive, AREA expresses its support for the proposals related to metering to enable better control of the energy consumption for heating and cooling.
